WYAA Adds Coaches to the Annual Kirk-Hughes Lineman camp.

We have been working hard to find the very best coaches for our Annual Antwan Kirk-Hughes lineman camp. Our lineup includes: Kevin Carr (Notre Dame); Evan Simpson, Sr. (Kansas State); Mark Carey (Howard Payne University); Brian Paul (Snook HS); Danny Clovin (SAGU).

Kevin Carr played for the University of Notre Dame during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, playing defensive end in 2012 and offensive line in 2013. During his time at Notre Dame, the team played for the National Championship and in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. Kevin played high school football for Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, TN. During his time at MBA, he helped the team capture one state championship and three regional titles, earning All-Region honors and the coaches award for Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2009. Kevin received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Currently, Kevin resides in Dallas and works in Research and Development for GAF Materials Corporation in Ennis, TX.

Evan Simpson, Sr. played defensive nose guard for Hall of Fame Coach Bill Snyder at Kansas State University from 1989 to 1992. While Playing at KSU, he earned All-Big Eight honors. Evan went on to coach for various high school programs. He coached players that received football scholarships to Division 1 NCAA Universities including SMU and the United States Naval Academy. Evan studied Public Relations at Kansas State University. He is the owner of Heritage Construction. His interests include: Volunteering, mentoring youth, coaching youth football and lifting weights.

Mark Carey is the current Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Howard Payne University. This will be Coach Carey’s 14th season at the collegiate level. Over the years, Carey has coached 19 All-Conference players, and 2 All-Region players. He has coached on seven NCAA playoffs teams and eight Conference Championship teams. Coach Carey is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Brian Paul played for state powerhouse LaMarque High School. He then went on to play at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. After college, he started coaching at Galveston Ball HS where he served as the O-line and D-line coach from 2007 to 2013. Brian then moved on to Bryan Rudden HS, where he served as the D-line coach for one season. Brian currently serves as the O-Line and D-line coach at Snook HS.

Coach Danny Colvin played high school football at Mesquite High and was on the 2001 State Championship team. Danny played at the collegiate level for SAGU, where he was a two-year starter at Offensive Guard and Offensive tackle. Danny has spent the last seven years coaching youth football with various teams, one of which being the WYAA Tomahawks during their inaugural season.

We are very excited and grateful for these coaches who have volunteered their time and talent for this event!
